More than a band . . .
Las Hienas was founded as a musical project with social impact. Living in a male-dominated society, women* and queer people continue to face structural discrimination and sexism, which can manifest in their workplaces, relationships, families, public spaces and everyday situations.

With the goal of confronting this discrimination and increasing the visibilty of women, Las Hienas have directed their musical program primarily towards queer and female audiences. In addition to performing concerts, they want to build spaces where people can actively contribute, share knowledge and learn from each other. For this reason, Las Hienas have been organizing workshops since 2024 on topics related to intersectional feminism.
By creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere, each workshop aims to help women connect, share personal experiences, learn about feminist subjects and gain greater self-confidence in both personal and professional contexts.

Participants had the chance to share their stories of sexism and discrimination - focusing on the music industry - and turn those experiences into lyrics through discussions based in a feminist ideology.
The workshop was made possible thanks to a local funding from Landsbankinn’s Menningarnæturpottur.
